A promise at seventeen.

The line about JPL in the 2000 resume: NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, summer 1997, public relations intern

In the summer of 1997 I was a public-relations intern at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, organizing media logistics for the Mars Pathfinder landing. I watched mission control through glass as Sojourner reached Mars. That afternoon began a lifelong fascination with stars and alignment, and I made myself a quiet promise: that one day I’d build a better system of astrology. Twenty-seven years later, it has a name: Quintessence.

until only the current remains,
and you are no longer the wave
but the water itself.

Words are spells. Words used well are white magic.
Used badly are black magic.

Taste, at its heart is about expressing the self - our personality, philosophy, modus operandi, but MUCH OF THE TASTE CODE IS ERROR CHECKING, VALIDATION CODE, to prove that what is communicated is authentic.

Dao De Jing 道德經

Laozi, rendered anew

A father-and-son English rendering of Laozi’s classic of the Way. We read the Wang Bi text alongside the Mawangdui silk and Guodian bamboo manuscripts, working to make all eighty-one chapters clear on first reading without sanding away their mystery. It began with a gift: around 2003 my father handed me Nietzsche’s Birth of Tragedy; twenty years later we are rendering Laozi together.
